Curvy Shapes in Interiors

Amelia Handegan - Southern Accents

I love seeing a visual statement in an interior and nothing does it quite like a curvy shape. Let's face it, rooms are mostly boxy, maybe even angular. Applying curves gives an organic feel or human touch to a space. Statement curvy shapes can give quite an amazing and dramatic visual effect. I love some of these examples.

Antonello Radi - Elle Decor

Alex Papachristidis - House Beautiful

Steven Shubel - House Beautiful

Berkley Vallone, Caroline DeCesar - House Beautiful

Bunny Williams - Elle Decor

Cathy Kincaid - House Beautiful

Amy Bergman - Traditional Home

Hattie Wolf, Abby Rizor - House Beautiful

I love the marble backsplash behind the tub in the bathroom beyond.

Jay Jeffers - House Beautiful

Curvy headboards are sculptural and provide beautiful silhouettes.

One of my bathroom remodels

I love curvy marble backsplashes. They have a historical reference and add a custom look to a vanity.

Apartment project photos are coming soon. It's my daughter's college apt.  So cute and filled with some of my Showhouse furnishings.

Have a great weekend!  I'm working!

  1. I love curves to! I think it is a girl thing. Men are drawn more to straight lines. You gotta have a curve or two or it just looks to straight! Boy that did not make sense. I have only had 1 cup of coffee. Have a good weekend.

  2. I LOVE that first photo. We added a curved entry to our dining room to raise it a bit (low 1950's ceilings) so glad we did.

  5. Curves add so much interest to any space. An arched doorway is an absolute favorite of mine!!

  6. We adore arches and curves. They add visual interest and seem to soften the space. We are gushing over the curved backsplashes and would love to redo ours.

  7. I love the blue in your bathroom remodel, Carla. And the way you've used the curvy mirror in the space is very pleasing to the eye. Don't work too hard!

  9. Very pretty! And what a great idea for a post. It's amazing what architectural detail, whether grand or minimal, will do for a room. (I think that chair, tho, in photo #1 should have been removed or raised to show it was what it is. It's rather distracting for the compostion.) BTW, your bath is still in discussion. I checked not long ago....Hope you're staying cool, if that's possible.

  10. Funny Susan. I thought the same thing about that chair. What a strong image, but that slit of a chair! Thanks for checking on the bathroom project.

  11. Carla,
I love curves and arches too! I love the third image especially!
I hope that your week is off to a great start.

  12. Curves are good! Rooms with too many clean lines don't feel nearly as inviting as ones that have pieces with curves. A single curvy piece, like that fabulous red bed, can make a room.
