How Do You Hang Your Art?

Randomly?

More of a casual, eclectic, collected kind of vibe.  Add one at any time.  Take one away and only you would miss it. It's definitely about the collection.  You're saying that you like this subject matter or color or artist or whatever so much that you've bought it over and over again in many sizes, shapes, forms.  Almost as research..... or obsession?  Definitely passion.  It says something about YOU. That is what your interiors should do by the way.

Or do you prefer your art all in a row?

More formal, more controlled, more purposeful.  You've thought very hard about the overall look rather than the individual pieces.  Take one away and and the rest are nothing.  It's really kind of about the grid or mass the collection creates on the wall rather than the individual pieces of art.

The wonderful thing about design is that there are very, very few rules. (Don't let anyone tell you the opposite!)  It all depends on the look you want to create!

And that's where the fun lies.

  1. good points to consider when hanging art...not all of it needs to be hung as if it were in a gallery...I have quite a bit that I've collected over the years and intend to fill walls in a rather random fashion..
    good post..

  2. I like for my art to be organized, but I like the random look in the home of others. I am for everything to be symmetric, so random wouldn't work for me.
    Beautiful images, Carla.

  4. Like Teresa, I love my art to be organized in a grid pattern but I love the look of casual and randomly hung art in other people's home. I have a thing for symmetry. :)

  5. Totally depends on the space and the collection of art our client has. We've found if the art isn't really great if you mas like colors and similar themes or frames together it take son more importance. These are some fabulous images. XO, Mona

  6. I like symmetry ...but I do have a collage of black and white family photographs on the wall in the Mammoth condo that is a bit more "free form."

    Great pics!

  7. Terribly, I'm terrible at organizing and hanging art.
I wish I had someone to do it for me!!!
I dont remember seeing gallery walls in the past like I've been seeing since I started viewing blogs... they seem all the rage.

  9. My brain will only let me hang it in an organized fashion in my own home, but so appreciate a random fashion in your gorgeous images!!

  10. Nice collection of styles! Sometimes my art sits on the floor for a long time because I'm so unsure of what I want. Thanks for the push!
